A guide to dry white wine and food pairings

Dry White Wine and Food Pairings

Dry white wines consist of light, high acidity wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio (to name a few). Because of the lightness and acidity in this style of wine, you want to avoid anything overly heavy, but if you are a fan of light foods, you should also be a fan of this type of wine. For example, you cannot go wrong with this wine if you serve any light seafood, especially oysters, clams, mussels, scallops, and shrimp. You will also find this pairs nicely with Chicken and Turkey when cooked with fresh herbs and minimal sauces. Vegetable dishes are often more challenging to pair with wines, but wines with this flavor profile hit the mark, so get on the Sav Blanc train if you are a vegetarian. This goes well with salty/hard cheeses as well as light/soft cheeses. This truly is a versatile wine. Just steer clear of heavy sauces, foods, and pungent cheeses, and you'll be a happy wine drinker!
